Why Our Clients Love Working With Us

I adopted a pup, Rico, with a minor bite history from the local rescue; he was very scared and was easily reactive. I sent him to a 6 week training program through NC K9 where Cody was his primary trainer and I can't speak highly enough of him. When I received Rico back he was so well trained and had so many commands. He is now unphased by people walking by and does not react to dogs on our walks. Cody taught me so many tricks and tools to control Rico and I feel so much more confident in being his owner.

As a fellow trainer, I can attest to his expertise, patience, and genuine love for training dogs. Cody takes the time to understand each dog's unique needs and provides very clear and practical guidance that delivers results. Whether addressing behavioral challenges or enhancing basic skills, his personalized approach makes a noticeable difference. I highly recommend NC K9 New Bern for anyone looking for a knowledgeable and effective dog trainer!

Cody is one of the most talented trainers I've met! He conducts himself in a professional manner, and provides valuable insight during training that can greatly improve communication between owners and dogs. As a professional dog trainer myself, I recognize the skills brought to the table by Cody, and I completely trust him working any of my dogs.

"They've truly changed our lives for the better"

Megan Z.

NC K9's expertise and dedication have completely transformed my relationship with my dogs. Today, they respond to the doorbell calmly and stay in place. We have a stronger bond, and I'm now able to confidently take them to public parks and walk them off-leash—a milestone that once felt impossible. The freedom, peace of mind, and joy we've gained are priceless.

Experienced, Professional Trainers

Cody Laurine is the head trainer of our New Bern Location. Cody began his career in dogs being a canine handler for a Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina. He was paired with his partner,K9 Karma. Cody trained her in narcotics detection, tracking, and article searches. Their partnership grew as Cody immersed himself in canine training, learning decoying, bite work, and training other dogs from surrounding agencies. This hands-on approach allowed him to build his expertise, particularly in bite work and apprehension techniques, which are critical components of K9 police work.

Cody didn’t stop with just his initial training. He attended multiple decoy schools and specialized courses in bite work foundation, apprehension, and aggression building. His education continued after exiting law enforcement, as he completed the NC K9 Police Working Dog Trainer School and the Master Trainer’s course at Highland Canine Training.

In 2023, Cody transitioned to NC K9, where he works as a full-time canine trainer. His work at NC K9 extends his impact beyond law enforcement, as he trains not only police and working dogs but also pets, helping to address behavioral issues and build confidence in dogs of all backgrounds.

Whether its attempting to reverse aggression issues or build confidence, I enjoy watching the pups learn and grow to be confident dogs that everyone enjoys being around.”

Cody brings strong practical experience and a well-rounded understanding of handling high-pressure situations having both served as a Law Enforcement Officer and a U.S. Marine.
